"I love coffee"
Making your own patch is easy. This tutorial will show you the most basic way to make a handmade patch, as simple as the one above. Later on I will be posting a more complex patch making method, that I hope you will all enjoy.

  1. Gather materials for the patch-planning process

  • c o f f e e - It's surprising how far a cup of coffee will take you in any crafting experience. Drink up ;)!
  • j o u r n a l/ s k e t c h b o o k - Use any type of book you are willing to draw in.
  • p e n - I know there's a quill feather and ink; just an exaggeration. You only need a pen :)

The patch planning process is basically just you sketching out how you want your patch to look.

    2.  Gather materials for cutting your fabric.

  • s c i s s o r s - preferably sewing scissors; only due to their sharpness and easier use.
  • f a b r i c - try picking a fabric easy to see any markings on.
You can cut the fabric into any shape; square, triangle, circle, oval...

   3. Gather materials for creating your design.

  •  f a b r i c   g l i t t e r - any color of your choice.
  •  f a b r i c  m a r k e r s - any color of your choice.
  •  f a b r i c  p a i n t - any color of your choice :).

You can now start making your patch!

Begin by drawing on the fabric first with your fabric markers.

as an example I drew a mug of coffee

Next, make accents with the fabric paint wherever you desire onto your drawing.

N O T E- I forgot to include the writing in this picture. It was done with the fabric paint as well.
You can then continue by using the fabric paint as an adhesive for the glitter, if you choose to put it on.

The finished product :

The project is now complete. Allow about 5-10 minutes to dry. You can (optionally) also apply adhesive to the back of the patch if desired/ sew the edges for a clean cut and "hem" look.
